Windows 8 is the name of the latest version of Microsoft Windows, a series of operating systems produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business computers, laptops, netbooks, tablet PCs, servers, and media center PC

The operating system uses the ARM microprocessors in addition to the traditional x86 microprocessors from Intel and AMD. The user interface is modified to be able to use on touch screen devices other than a mouse and keyboard, so that Windows 8 is designed for touch tablet device.

But the Chinese government has announced that they are not interested in using the Windows 8 operating system. Fact they also have banned government officials to install Windows 8 on a computer. And now, a similar move was done by academics in the Bamboo Curtain country.

In a statement quoted from Ubergizmo, Thursday (06/05/2014), the Windows 8 operating system is considered to threaten the security of the state. One scholar named Ni Guangnam said that Windows 8 could be used by the U.S. government as a means to monitor the activity of users in China.

"Your identity, accounts, contacts book, phone numbers, all the data can be collected for analysis of large data. Americans have a law that requires everyone to report these data to the government. Data it may be a great way for Americans to spy matai other countries, "said Guangnam.

Other academics, Yang Min beradal of Fudan University colleagues also strengthens the statement. He said his colleagues fear that it could have been done, especially Microsoft does not want to give the source code of Windows 8 to the Chinese government. He also said that Windows 8 is specifically designed to enable users of Microsoft access database and this could be a serious threat to China.

Steps taken by China is likely to be to avenge a similar treatment from the U.S. government. Some time ago, the U.S. government warned its citizens of the dangers of espionage activities undertaken by local companies such as Huawei and ZTE.
